Researching the future of operational intelligence.

Connecting records is a foundation. Understanding how a change affects an entire operation is the next challenge. ShowDesk's proposed research explores how AI could reason through interconnected resources, commitments, and requirements when information is incomplete or changing.

These are research objectives. Their technical feasibility remains to be established.

From fragmented information to checkable decisions.

We aim to investigate an uncertainty-aware reasoning architecture combining three technical capabilities.

Evidence-linked constraint modeling

Research methods for turning operational records into structured requirements, dependencies, and commitments that preserve their sources, time sensitivity, and uncertainty.

Decision-focused AI reasoning

Investigate how AI inference and formal feasibility analysis could inform one another, identify conflicts, and determine which missing facts materially affect a decision.

Verifiable operational planning

Explore recommendations that can be independently checked against confirmed constraints, including equipment availability, crew assignments, timing, and contractual requirements.

Using feasibility analysis to decide what needs clarification.

Our proposed method would preserve competing interpretations of ambiguous records rather than immediately treating one interpretation as fact. Feasibility analysis would then help identify which unresolved assumptions could change an operational decision, guiding targeted questions to a human. A feasible schedule would not, by itself, establish that an interpretation is correct.

We would test whether this approach reduces invalid recommendations and unnecessary clarification compared with retrieval-based assistants and one-way or iterative AI-to-solver pipelines. Evaluation would use independently validated requirements, not only constraints inferred by the system itself.

Can AI reason reliably when the facts are unsettled?

A plausible answer alone does not establish that a plan works. Our proposed evaluation would examine whether this approach can produce reliable decisions as records conflict, requirements change, and important details remain unknown.

Accuracy

Compare inferred requirements and detected conflicts with independently validated requirements. Measure both missed conflicts and incorrect warnings, and check whether proposed plans satisfy those requirements.

Scalability

Evaluate reasoning quality and computational cost as the number of records, resources, and dependencies grows and operational information changes.

Uncertainty

Test whether incomplete or contradictory evidence stays visible in the reasoning and whether the system recognizes when the available facts cannot support a reliable conclusion.

Targeted human clarification

Examine whether asking for specific missing facts improves decisions, how many questions are needed, and when clarification changes a plan's feasibility.

Feasibility is an open research question. These methods have not been established as reliable product capabilities. Verification would depend on the constraints represented and the quality of the underlying evidence; people remain responsible for operational decisions.

One venue change. Several connected commitments.

Imagine a production company sharing equipment, a truck, and a crew across two events. A venue moves its access window earlier. Separate quotes and schedules leave it unclear whether the first event's load-out allows enough time to reach and prepare for the second.

What the research would seek to enable

  • Connect the revised access time to equipment, transport, and crew commitments, with supporting sources.
  • Test whether the plan can meet the confirmed timing and resource requirements.
  • Ask for an unconfirmed load-out duration if that fact determines whether the plan is feasible.
  • Present the conflict or conditional recommendation with the assumptions needed to check it.

This scenario illustrates the proposed research goal. It is hypothetical and describes no measured customer result.

Proposed research capabilities

Inferring uncertain constraints, reasoning across conflicting requirements, testing feasibility, selecting decision-relevant questions, and producing independently checkable plans are research objectives. They are not established features of the current product.
